Abstract: A three steps synthesis of non-symmetric 1,4-dialkoxybenzenes starting from 4-hydroxybenzaldehydes was described. At first step 4-alkoxyphneols were alkylated to give 4-alkoxybenzaldehydes. At the second step 4-alkoxybenzaldehydes were submitted to a Baeyer-Villiger oxidation with 30% H 2O 2 to afford 4-alkoxyphenols. At the last step 4-alkoxyphenols were secondly alkylated to give the title compounds.
